Our Story

The Meet

Hannah and Mike’s story began in 2021 when their paths crossed at work. A friendship bloomed, and after years of working side by side, Mike finally gathered the courage to ask Hannah on a date to Salem’s local restaurant, Taproot in 2023. What began as a single, awkward moment became the start of something beautiful—a life filled with many more date nights, weekend getaways, and endless love and laughter.

The Memories

They’ve spent the past few years making some truly epic memories. There are beach days and nights out, but their most memorable moments often come from unexpected chaos. Take, for instance, the birthday dinner Hannah planned for Mike. It was so chaotic they likened the experience to eating dinner on a freeway, but it proved to them that great company makes even the worst date a good one. And let’s not forget the family vacation to an Airbnb that was a little too “rustic” thanks to a surprise infestation of ants and mice. But with some quick thinking, they made it into a fun, unforgettable adventure. Ask them about their time in Eureka, California!

The Proposal

After a few setbacks with the ring, Mike was finally ready to propose. He planned a weekend trip, intending to propose on a Saturday at the beautiful Japanese Garden in Portland, followed by a celebratory dinner. But Mother Nature had other plans, and a downpour washed out Saturday. Undeterred, Mike decided to try again on Sunday. The garden was packed, and no spot felt right for such a special moment. Hannah, sensing his anxiety, was incredibly sweet and patient. Mike eventually led her across the street to the quiet International Rose Garden and they sat on a bench. As he tried to find the perfect moment, a kind woman offered to take their picture. After she snapped the photos, she said, “I hope you look just like this in 50 years.” Mike took this as a sign from the universe. He stopped stalling, got down on one knee, and proposed. And since you’re reading this, you can guess what she said!
